Hi, I’m Mike GlozierOver the last 15 years of teaching, I've had the pleasure of helping drummers of all kinds, from first-time players to seasoned pros.
Whatever your level, my goal is the same: to simplify the learning process and cut out unnecessary clutter. A big part of this is ditching traditional exercises, books, and routines so we can focus on practical, real-world skills that make a difference. |
Stage 1 - Master The Basics
Beats and fills form the core of playing drums. While the possibilities are infinite, certain patterns are used more than others. We'll focus on the 10 most popular beats and 5 fills that allow you to play along with most any song and show off around kit. Stage 2 - Learn Your Favourite Songs
With the basics down, it’s time to start focusing on the music you like. We'll delve into your favourite songs, progressively exploring deeper levels of detail as you advance. Stage 3 - Film Videos (or Take Grades)
Filming videos is a great way to track your progress - it’s cool to have something to look back on too. If you like, we can also take grades at this stage (100% pass rate). Stage 4 - Master Technical Skills
From building smooth efficient technique, to learning how to flow round the kit - we’ll focus on the technical skills that make the best players stand out. Stage 5 - Get Advice & Guidance
Get help in any area you like - from technique, to building working musician skills, to music university auditions and beyond. |

Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat ages do you teach?
I primarily focus on teaching adults and older teenagers, but I welcome students of all levels from ages 13 and up. I also offer specialised Core lessons for students aged 9-12 who want to get started sooner. What if I’ve taken lessons elsewhere?
You’re in good company - many of my students have previous experience. I find most all teachers miss some important aspects, so we'll check and fix those first before moving forward. Do I need to commit to a weekly slot?
Not at all - my lessons can be booked online as often as you like. However, demand is high, so if you plan on taking regular lessons I recommend reserving a weekly or bi-weekly slot to guarantee availability. Can you help me with a specific goal?
Whatever your goal, I’m happy to help. If you have something you’d like to work on, let me know when applying to start. Common requests: • Preparing for music college/uni • Learning/recording GCSE music performance pieces • Getting ready for auditions • Fixing technique issues • Learning a list of favourite songs |
